Jasmine Martin is a musician, music educator, artist (and sometimes writer) residing in Townsville, North Queensland.

Born to two wonderful musicians/music educators, becoming a musician seemed to be the organic progression for Jasmine, hearing classical, contemporary and jazzy melodies stream through her parents’ music room door all through childhood. Jasmine eventually picked up the violin at 10 years old after seeing her father play and was deeply moved by the nuances and complexities of the violin – more than eager to dive into the challenge! A regular performer in North Queensland’s Barrier Reef Orchestra since 2005, Jasmine has participated in a variety of string ensembles, quartets and chamber groups over time. She has her Associate Diploma of Music (A.Mus.A) in Violin.

Jasmine personally believes that curiosity, positivism and open-mindedness are important pillars in the learning process – which, by the way, never stops! She is always learning from her students, who each present a different set of personal strengths and unique characteristics. Jasmine has created her music studio to share her knowledge and the soul-enriching experience of music, with hopes of exposing the violin and classical music to a wider audience and making string music education accessible and fun for people from all walks of life. She values the importance in establishing trust and rapport in the musical relationship between teacher and student.

When she is not making music with her lovely students both at the in-home studio and in school, Jasmine also likes to draw, garden, cook, read, write and play with her two gorgeous but cheeky felines, Luna and Tigger.

Music lessons with Shine String Studio are conducted in a friendly and comfortable air-conditioned space in Burdell, North Shore. If you are parent bringing your child to music lessons, you are welcome to come and sit in on the lessons. Or, you can take a walk, or go for a drive. There are walking tracks all around the area, and a Stockland right around the corner!
